Life in Service is an integral part of life in Jesus. Jesus made it very clear that as Christians, we are to show the love of God to others by serving them. It is a life of giving, humility and love. Now Jesus lives his life through us. He sets the example and then works through us to carry out these good works in our daily lives.
Youth at this age are in the middle of the great chaos of adolescence. Youth are all over the charts in varying degrees of emotional, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development. The differences between each individual youth is never greater than at this time. This is the best age for volunteering and “hands-on” learning opportunities. We have custom designed our program to work within this setting and focus on service which everyone can “get into” regardless of where they are at developmentally.
In their family and personal life, youth will continue to discover and experience life in Jesus through practice of spiritual disciplines, modeling and instruction by parents and support of sponsors.
In their church life, youth will discover and experience frequent hands-on servant opportunities in direct application of what they learned in 5th and 6th grade and what they are learning from a study of the Gospel of Matthew. The Junior Youth Group of our church has its basic foundation in these classes. Participation in a Junior Youth Group that is focused on service will meet their need to “belong to something that makes a difference in people’s lives.” Belonging to a family that practices this at home also meets the need to be part of something that “makes a difference.”
At the end of the this level, our youth will prepare and deliver a personal testimony. Then, on the last Sunday, our youth will participate in a Life in Service event.
