"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." - Colossians 3:16
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
Life in Mission is an integral part of life in Jesus. It is the time when the cycle begins to repeat itself as we connect others to life in Jesus. This is the crown of the Life in Jesus program - a combination of hands-on, real-life application of all that has been discovered and experienced in the prior three levels. Each youth will explore and experience God’s world-view to reach the lost and will develop a personal mission statement. This level includes a mentoring relationship with a younger youth and a major mission trip out of the country.
Developmentally, youth are going through the emerging-adult stage of youth. Their lives are on the brink of a huge transition from the home into the “world.” There is a feeling of “being sent” in the air. Youth at this time are successfully transitioning from concrete to abstract thinking. Youth start to exercise the ability to get beyond “rote” answers such as: “this is what the church believes” or “this is what I think the church believes.” The deep application of the question, “what does this mean to you?” is emerging. It is an exciting time to explore and discuss adult faith life.
In their family and personal life, youth will continue to discover and experience life in Jesus through practice of spiritual disciplines, modeling and instruction by parents and support of sponsors.
Church instruction during these two years will include study of the books of Philippians and 1 & 2 Peter.
At the end of this level, youth will prepare and deliver a personal testimony. Our 11th and 12th grade youth will participate in the Life in Mission event.
