"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." - Colossians 3:16
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17
I try to encourage people to look at the sin in their life so that they might get rid of it, so that they aren't hindered by it any longer. They don't need to be slowed down by it, diverted by it, or overwhelmed with guilt and depression. In Christ, we are free from our old selves and are made new. Living as a new creation in Christ we find true joy and a full abundant life.
Humbling ourselves and admitting our mistakes seems unattractive, because we don't want to look at what we we have done. It isn't a great feeling, it is embarassing and we are ashamed. Repentance and forgiveness does not add guilt and shame to our mistakes, it opens the path to freedom from our mistakes.
Lord, let me own up to my mistakes, and the sinful areas of my life so that I may be free of them. Your forgiveness is waiting! Amen
