Eternal vs Temporary - Jesus only died for one!

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." - Colossians 3:16

Life in the Cross - Devotion 1

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”  - John 10:10-11

There are difficult choices that stand in our way from living out Life in the Cross. How can we be best prepared to make those difficult choices so that we can love God and impact those around us? Many of the choices revolve around people and things. It helps us keep a Godly perspective when we put people above the things of this world.

We must learn what we are fighting for - eternal things only! Temporary things won’t matter when this life is over, peoples lives will matter. Your life is eternal, while the things of the world are not (houses, money, power, jobs, sports teams, etc.) So we learn to see temporary things of this world as tools you use in the battle for people souls. If we don’t learn to use them as tools we are likely only to be distracted by them. We naturally seek them out for our own pleasure and see them as the goal themselves.

Dear Lord, thank You for laying down Your life for me, so that I may spend eternity with You. In my gratitude may I help others come to know You. Amen.
