Look at Me!

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." - Colossians 3:16

Life in Service - Devotion 3

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge will award me on that day…”  - 2 Timothy 4:7

When our daughter was much younger, she once wanted my attention very badly. She finally screamed, ‘Daddy, look at me!! Look at me!’ and I did. Whatever she wanted me to see has long since been forgotten, but her little phrase to get attention has never left. How many times do we do something and cry out in some fashion for recognition. We need to guard against the temptation to draw this kind of attention to ourselves and become a cloud that blocks people from seeing the God we serve. Rest assured that our great God sees our service. But remember, we need to get out of the way and become increasingly transparent. Then God can be seen through us by those who have not experienced that goodness and mercy He supplies.

Lord, let me share Paul’s confident expectation of meeting You. Thank You for these words of enocouragement to keep on with my race. Amen.
