Getting to Know God

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." - Colossians 3:16

Life in Jesus Pathway - Devotion 1

Men have the reputation for refusing to stop and ask for directions. Truth be told, everyone falls for it… trusting human instinct rather than God’s wisdom. Pride gets in the way and we remain lost - far from our destination.

Many people rely on their own understanding of God and His activity in the world. When left to our own ideas about God we are deceived and have a false understanding of God. It’s a problem that is common to all sinful human beings. Paul says we need to stop and ask for directions when he writes… “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so you may know him better.” Ephesians 1:17. Getting to know God and His love must be revealed to us supernaturally - we don’t know the things of God on our own.

An enlightened understanding of Jesus and His purpose is the first step in connecting to Life in Jesus; investigate the truth revealed in the pages of the Bible. Explore the claims of Jesus and don’t be afraid to ask questions about things you don’t understand.

Dear Lord, please grant us the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know you better. Amen.
