"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." - Colossians 3:16

Life in Jesus - Devotion 3

My friend Krista is one of the nicest, compassionate and caring people I know. You would assume she was a disciple of Jesus if you met her. My friend Todd is a born and bred Lutheran. Baptized, went to the Lutheran schools, worships every Sunday. You would assume he was a disciple of Jesus if you met him. But often times we find we may not have an integrated faithwalk with Jesus. We may know about Jesus but not truly believe in him. We may act like Jesus but not totally know about him. We may believe in Jesus but not act like him.

What would an integrated authentic disciple reflecting God’s heart look like? Maybe a disciple would not only support mission work around the world but would be a missionary and do mission work right in his/her neighborhood? Maybe a disciple would not only talk about Jesus but be a reflection of Jesus to others in how he/she lives his/her life? Maybe a disciple lives a faith that is not just something that happens on Sunday but each and every day of his/her life? Maybe a disciple is one who understands the urgency of Matt. 28:19 – 20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”? Being a disciple is life in Jesus!

Lord, we are to go and make disciples, whether this is next door or in the next block or in another country. Wherever You send us, Lord, may we follow this command to fulfill the Great Commission. Amen.
